Once upon a time, four little ladies started up a theatre company with a great big heart and a whole lot of vision.
Since then, Sibyl Theatre has produced three full scale productions (despite the fact we do not have a permenant venue) and raised over 500 dollars for charaties world wide (despite the fact we do not charge admission).
As I look back on a year ago, I see how far we’ve come. How much we’ve learned about not only the theatre, but the business of theatre. Sometimes it’s easy to long for simplicity that lay in that first production, but when faced with the enormity of tonight’s opening of Lysistrata, I realized that we are exactly where we need to be.
Growing. Learning. And building a company for a better future. We are meeting new people, engaging new ideas, and getting ready to raise some more money for some more charaties.
And I realize Sibyl Theatre has grown from it’s humble beginings of four platforms and some candles to 10 foot sets and custom built costumes, and as we have grown we plan on continuing to grow.
A part of that continuous growth is our comittment: we’re going to blog more. We’re going to try and keep our theatre family more aware of our process other than productiong time.
We’re closing this season out, but very shortly we will reconvine and we will bring you another season. Another year. And some more love to spread to the world.
